In addition to the financial assistance provided by the Motability Scheme, eligible applicants can also enjoy a number of other benefits that have been designed to make staying mobile as easy and stress-free as possible. These additional benefits of the Motability Scheme include everything you will need to get moving and stay safe while you are on the go.

Modifications if needed

One of the main benefits of leasing a car through the Motability Scheme is the possibility to make any adaptations you may need. There are many ways in which you can modify your Motability vehicle to make it more accessible and fit for your needs, and many of the options available are covered by your regular monthly payment without any additional fee.

Vehicle tax and insurance

When you lease a Motability vehicle, your annual road tax will be automatically included, so that’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about. You’ll also receive insurance protection for your car through Motability’s partnership with RSA Motability (RSAM). This insurance covers accidental damage and loss as well as theft, fire, replacement locks and more so you can drive away worry-free.

Full breakdown assistance

Your Motability vehicle will be covered for full roadside assistance throughout your entire lease. Cover is provided by RAC Motability Assist and can help with recovery, onward travel and replacement cars.

Servicing and MOT 

Any servicing and repairs that your Motability car needs will also be covered by the scheme. This includes scheduled servicing that will be agreed at set times during your lease or after a specified number of miles.

A new Motability car every three years 

Motability drivers can exchange their car for a new model every three years. As long as you still meet all of the eligibility requirements, you can choose to upgrade once your current three-year lease expires.

A generous mileage allowance 

When you take out a three-year lease on a Motability vehicle, it will come with a mileage allowance of 60,000 miles. That works out at a very generous 20,000 mile allowance per year, meaning you never need to worry about going over your limit when getting from A to B.

Up to two named drivers for free

When you lease a Motability car, you can add two named drivers. The named drivers can be the grant beneficiary or a friend, family member or carer. If you would like to add a third driver to your Motability car, this can usually be offered for a fee.
