A rapidly growing market

Future of Ford

Ford is far from the only automotive brand that has announced plans to electrify its fleet. More and more manufacturers have released details on their plans to move towards a largely - or entirely - electrified fleet. The American manufacturer’s recent announcement puts it at the forefront of the current industry landscape, solidifying its position as an innovative and game-changing brand.

In the February announcement, Ford shared its plans to add an additional 14 vehicles to its electric range by the end of 2021. The new electric and electrified options will add to the options that already exist, or are due to be released during the course of 2020. These new additions will be a massive move for Ford, and will come at the cost of an $11 billion dollar investment.

A range of electrified vehicles

Ford already boasts an industry-leading selection of electric and electrified vehicles. The new Ford Puma is already available with EcoBoost Hybrid, the new Ford Kuga comes with a choice of three hybrid electric options and the ever-popular Ford Mondeo estate now also comes in a hybrid version. For commercial users, the Ford Tourneo Custom PHEV and Ford Transit Custom PHEV have provided economical advantages for businesses that rely on transporting goods or people.

The new ford Mustang Mach-E is the latest addition to Ford’s rapidly growing range of electric vehicles but it is far from the last. The fact that it has been launched alongside Ford’s new electrification strategy announcement, though, is fitting. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of the first electric sports cars on the market, and gives us glimpse of the innovative nature of Ford’s plans.

A new Ford Charging Solutions ecosystem

Ford Pass

Ford’s electric-first plans are supported by the launch of another new innovation. The Ford Charging Solutions ecosystem is an industry-leading project that will increase charging facilities across the UK and all of Europe. The new ecosystem is already rolling out, with anybody who places an order of the new Ford Mustang Mach-E receiving a free one year subscription to
the FordPass app. This free subscription will allow drivers of the new Ford Mustang Mach E to effortlessly utilise FordPass Charging Network locations and pay for charging services from a single account.

Alongside this new ecosystem, Ford also recently announced plans to introduce 1,000 new charging facilities at Ford facilities across Europe. These charging facilities will be opened within the next three years, making charging simple and convenient for all employees.
