Ford's first all-electric van: The E-Transit

Added: 18 January 2022

Arriving in Europe in Spring 2022, Ford has announced their first-ever all-electric van. The new E-Transit is an electric version of the much-loved Ford Transit and has just won the gold NCAP safety award. It retains the same sleek design and cargo space as the diesel version, but in a more eco-friendly and low-maintenance vehicle.

Available in 25 different variations, the E-Transit’s best-in-class battery, range and motor power offer unmatched performance while helping your business reach its sustainability targets. Here is everything you need to know about the all-electric Ford E-Transit.

Class-Leading Performance

The E-Transit has a 68kWh battery mounted under the floor, which can deliver an impressive range of up to 196 miles (317 km) on a single charge. The electric motor has two outputs of 181ps or 266ps powering the rear wheels and offers up to 430Nm of torque to give the van the power to deal with heavy payloads.

With its class-leading battery size, range, and motor power, Ford claims that the E-Transit will be the most powerful electric van on the European market.

Rapid-Charging Capability

Effortless rapid charging is a must for businesses adopting electric vehicles, and the E-Transit offers exactly that. The all-electric van features both AC and DC fast charging capabilities. The 11.3kW AC onboard charger allows a slow charge in eight hours, while the 115kW DC fast charger can recharge from 15%-80% in just 34 minutes.

Plus, finding public charging stations is easy. All E-Transit owners will receive access to the FordPass charging network. This network features 200,000 charging stations across the UK and Europe and fast-charging stations in 450 locations

Power Your Tools On The Go

In a European industry first, the Ford E-Transit makes it possible to turn your van into a mobile power source with its optional Pro Power Onboard feature. The innovative new feature delivers 2.3kW of power from an onboard socket. This means you can plug in your power tools, laptop, or other equipment while out on the job without need for a portable generator.

An E-Transit to Suit Every Business

The Ford E-Transit comes in 25 configurations so that you can find the perfect van to suit your business’s needs. You can choose from the standard panel van for increased load space, the multi-seat double-cab-in-van to accommodate extra passengers, or the chassis cab.

No Compromise on Cargo Space

Despite being all-electric, the E-Transit hasn’t compromised on the legendary cargo capacity that the Ford Transit has long been lauded for. With the battery cleverly located under the chassis, the panel van offers the same 15.1 cubic metre cargo space as its diesel predecessor.

State-of-the-art Technology

The E-Transit is the first Ford van to feature the next-generation SYNC 4 infotainment system. Controlled by a 12" touchscreen, the cutting-edge system features real-time route planning, enhanced voice recognition, and wireless smartphone integration. The vehicle also has advanced driver assistance and a suite of the latest safety systems. These include a 360-degree camera, Reverse Brake Assist, traffic-sign recognition, and intelligent speed assist.

Seamless Fleet Management

For businesses moving to fully electric fleets, the E-Transit is supported by Ford’s connected services and advanced monitoring technologies. The intelligent Ford Telematics tool allows you to view real-time insights into your fleet of 5+ vehicles. Operators can monitor vehicle location, range, charge levels, and health status. For smaller fleets, the free FordPass Pro app lets you track vehicles, find charging stations, and pay for charging on the go. These connected services can help maximise productivity and minimise vehicle downtime.
