The New Ford Focus Arrives

Added: 01 March 2022

After four years on the market, the current generation Ford Focus has had a fresh new face-lift for 2022. The next generation of the popular family hatchback has received a stylish new front-end design, an upgraded infotainment system, state-of-the-art safety features, and more efficient hybrid engines.

With style like never before, fuel-saving features and the most enjoyable driving experience yet, here is everything you need to know about the new Ford Focus.

A Fresh Face-Lift for Every Model

One of the most noticeable styling changes to the latest Ford Focus is its new front end. Similar to the Ford Fiesta update, the Ford badge has been moved from the bonnet to the middle of the enlarged grille. The nose has also been lifted for a sportier look.

The Titanium, ST-Line, and Active models have all received further styling updates to express their individual personalities. The sporty ST-Line has seen the biggest upgrade, with a black honeycomb mesh grille, a lower bumper, large side skirts, and a rear diffuser and spoiler. The premium Vignale now also comes as a trim pack on most of the Focus models. The add-on includes exclusive alloy wheel designs and satin-finished upper grille bars and side vents.

Stylish and Functional Lighting Options

Sleek LED headlights have been added to every Ford Focus model, with automatic high-beam control and integrated fog lights. The LED taillights feature a new darker design with a striking loop light pattern. The optional ‘Dynamic Pixel’ LED headlights offer additional features, including a camera to read the route ahead and adjust the lights for better visibility on winding roads.

A New Hybrid Engine for a More Efficient and Controlled Drive

The new Ford Focus powertrain remains largely unchanged, with a choice of petrol, diesel, and mild-hybrid engines. However, the new Ford Focus does offer a 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid engine with a seven-speed Powershift automatic transmission for the first time. This helps deliver a more efficient and controlled drive that’s perfect for city roads and highways. The ST-Line remains the most powerful Focus model. Its 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine delivers 280hp and 420Nm of torque.

Next Generation Technology

The new update sees the Focus equipped with Ford’s state-of-the-art SYNC 4 infotainment system. Controlled by a 13.2” touchscreen, the SYNC 4 has cloud-connected navigation for real-time route planning, advanced voice recognition, and easy smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also integrates climate control. Everything you need is now in one convenient central location.

Advanced Safety Features

In addition to existing safety features, such as speed sign recognition, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control, the next generation Ford Focus is packed with the latest driver assistance systems.

Blindspot assist can apply counter-steering to avoid hitting another vehicle approaching from behind. Also new is intersection assist, which uses the forward-facing camera to automatically apply the brakes if moving into the path of an oncoming vehicle at a junction. And, for families, the rear occupant alert reminds you to check the back seats for children at the end of a journey
