In just a couple of months’ time, the Ford Puma will be available for the first time ever as a crossover SUV. It’s a dramatic change for the Puma name, which some may still associate with a front-wheel drive sporty coupé, but this is very much a car for modern times. Here is everything you need to know about the new Ford Puma crossover.

A sophisticated hybrid powertrain

A true car for the future, the new Ford Puma comes with a mild hybrid system as standard. Using Ford’s EcoBoost Hybrid technology, the mild hybrid powertrain has a 48 volt battery to help boost performance and make use of electric power. It does this by using regenerative braking technology to recharge the battery, which can then assist the award-winning 1.0 litre FordEcoboost petrol engine. This clever combination means you can use electric power to reduce your emissions and cut back on fuel costs without ever having to connect your Ford Puma to an external power source.

Human-centric design

The Ford Puma has been designed to help you get the most out of today’s modern living. This is evident as soon as you get into the new crossover, with a range of available features clearly designed for both comfort and convenience. Lumbar massage seats for the driver and front passenger offer additional support and comfort thanks to the 3-way adjustable settings, which can be activated at the touch of a button and help revitalise tired muscles on long journeys. Other comfort-focused features include a full-length panoramic roof to let plenty of natural light into the vehicle from outside while the powerful 10-speaker set, fine-tuned by B&O sound engineers, keeps you entertained on the inside.

Bold SUV styling

The 2019 Ford Puma looks nothing like the sports car that shared the same name. Instead, it features bold SUV exterior styling and a choice of ten modern paintwork shades. These include a standard colour of Blazer Blue, premium colours such as Frozen White and Solar Silver, and five exclusive colours such as Lucid Red and Desert Island Blue. When it comes to dimensions, the body of the new Ford Puma is based on the bestselling
Ford Fiesta and slightly bigger than the Ford EcoSport. It also boasts the largest boot of any car in its class - a winning feature that gives it an edge over the many other small crossovers on the market.

Innovative technology

The Ford Puma is packed with innovative technologies that are ready for the future and make every drive as simple and convenient can be. These include Ford Co-Pilot, a suite of technologies that work together and include Adaptive Cruise Control and Speed Sign Recognition to monitor and adjust speed where necessary. The fiver Selectable Drive Modes let you adjust your Puma’s throttle response, steering and gear-change behaviour to suit your driving style and the conditions outside, while the new 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster is unique to Puma and allows the screen to curve with the vehicle fascia.
